Comprised of actress Zooey Deschanel and indie folk musician M. Ward, She & Him is an endearing collaboration. Deschanel has an amazing voice, and she lets her pipes flow on most tracks on the album.  You can hear a little of Dusty Springfield in Deschanel’s voice, but her dusky cool voice pulls you into a lullaby of twangy blissfulness. In today’s world, it’s very refreshing to hear a voice as seemingly timeless as hers. Ward’s musical arrangements are intelligently crafted yet never overpowering.  The album is full of songs about heartbreak and romance. A simple yet beautiful little album. To use the phrase, She & Him “make wonderful music together.”
