No Age
Nouns
Sub Pop
Los Angeles duo No Age follow up their critically acclaimed debut Weirdo Rippers with this frantically scattered yet brilliant release. Nouns is a wonderful blend of experimental, punk, and psych. All of the negatives are strangely the positives as well on this release. Sure, they’re slightly sloppy and the album is inconsistent musically. But, somehow they seem to make it work out to their advantage. There is a certain beautiful urgency and vigor to Nouns. Highlights include the poppier “Eraser,” and “Here Should Be My Home” and the noisier opener “Miner.” Although the album may be short, its impact on you won’t be. It will leave you wanting more, but in a good way. Check it out for yourself.
