Finding a good balance between angelic female vocals and hard rock instrumentation can be a tedious task with the danger of cliché and bombast around every corner, yet In This Moment maneuvers through this treacherous winding road with ease. Bordering on metal, without getting too heavy, and holding tight to a stout female voice The Dream makes for an easy listen. Think of Paramore without all that over-compressed, polished “punk” production and add a touch of Sonata Arctica. This is one of the few female driven albums I’ve heard this year that doesn’t have to scream or get sleazy to leave its mark.
