Coming this fall, Houston Roller Derby will host the 2008 WFDTA Western Regionals Tournament. Appropriately titled Battle Royale 08, the tournament will be held October 3rd-5th at the Verizon Wireless Theater in Houston, Tex. The Battle Royale will consist of the 12 highest ranked roller derby leagues in the Western region. Based upon the recently released rankings by WFTDA, these dozen leagues will be battling it out on the track, with the goal of moving forward to the National tournament in November.  The following leagues have qualfied and have been officially invited to the Battle Royale (listed in order of seeding): Kansas City Roller Warriors, Rat City Rollergirls, Texas Rollergirls, B.ay A.rea D.erby Girls, Rose City Rollers, Rocky Mountain Rollergirls, Tucson Roller Derby, Pikes Peak Derby Dames, Duke City Derby, Dallas Derby Devils, Houston Roller Derby, and Denver Roller Dolls. This is one tournament that's bound to live up to its name, except perhaps the spewing of excessive blood...but you never know with these leagues. Should be a killer tournament.
